Psalms With Purpose For Young People- Psalm 25: 7, 20
Psalm 25:7, 20
Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions;
According to Your lovingkindness remember me,
For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord.
Guard my soul and rescue me;
Do not let me be ashamed or disappointed,
For I have taken refuge in You.

Imagine you stole a classmate's phone and lied about it to cover up your actions. You feel guilty and ashamed of yourself, but you might also feel afraid of getting caught and punished. You might be tempted to keep the phone, but you know that it is not right and that you need to confess what you did, apologize and return the stolen property.
Here's how this example connects to Psalm 25:
"Do not remember the sins of my youth or my transgressions" - This verse applies because it specifically mentions sins of youth, but God also forgives sins committed as an adult.
"According to Your lovingkindness remember me" - This verse is like asking God to forgive you and remember you with love, even though you have done wrong. God loves you unconditionally.
"For Your goodness’ sake, O Lord" - This verse is like expressing your gratitude to God for His forgiveness and grace.
"Guard my soul and rescue me" - This verse is like asking God to protect you from the consequences of your sin and help you overcome the guilt and shame you feel.
"Do not let me be ashamed or disappointed" - This verse is like trusting in God's plan for you, even when you have messed up.
"For I have taken refuge in You" - This verse is like taking shelter in God's arms, knowing that He will always be there for you, regardless of your mistakes.
This example helps you understand Psalm 25:7,20: by applying the psalm to a sin magnified by lying to cover it up, but the core message remains the same - God's forgiveness and goodness are still available to everyone, even when we make mistakes, no matter what they are or how complicated they may seem to us.
