Proverbs with Purpose for Young People- Proverbs 6:6-8
Here’s a practical example to help understand-
Proverbs 6:6-8
Go to the ant, O lazy one; Observe her ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief, overseer or ruler, she prepares her food in the summer
And brings in her provisions [of food for the winter] in the harvest.
Imagine you are getting ready for a big snowstorm that is expected to hit your town soon. Even though it's not snowing yet, you know that you need to prepare by stocking up on food, shovels, salt, and other supplies so that you can stay safe and warm during the storm. You don't have a boss or teacher telling you what to do - it's up to you to take charge and make sure you are prepared.
In the same way, the ant works hard all summer long to gather food and store it away for the winter, even though there isn't anyone telling her what to do. She knows that she needs to be prepared for the future, and she takes responsibility for making sure she has everything she needs to survive.
So when we read Proverbs 6:6-8, and then we think about the ant's behavior and compare it to our own lives; we can see that there are important lessons to be learned from this small but industrious creature. Just as the ant works hard to prepare for the future without any external motivation, we too should strive to develop habits of responsibility, foresight, and discipline. And while the ant may not have a relationship with God, we believe that these qualities are pleasing to Him and reflect His desires for us.
